Hi Folks-
Terry from Norcal 4 cycle here. I really enjoyed our race with you guys and am thinking about bringing my son who is 12 up to run with you next year. I want to know what the Jr 2 or Jr 3 rules will be. How do I set up his clone to make sure he can come play too ;D . Actually, I am sure my 10 yr old would want to play as well. Can anyone tell me what rules you are using? Is the only difference the restrictor plate? Or is the muffler different too?
So If I can make it happen I would have all 3 of us run with you.
Thanks! Terry

My 9yo drove his clone cadet for the first time a couple of weeks ago at Prairie City. Works great on a cadet and I will see if he wants to race as soon as we can get some Jr clones going.

Mike You will need to be promoting the forming of a Cadet Clone Class. Jr is for 12-15 year olds.

I guess I should be clearer. I could put a clone on my son's kart at any point. He already drives faster than I do in his HPV 1. But he doesn't want to move up to HPV 2 next year. He would like to do clones instead.
My question is what sets a junior apart from the seniors aside from age. Or are we saying Jr clone is just younger drivers and lower weight? I thought the engines were set up differently with restrictors and different mufflers.

I'm guessing this will be my next project over the winter for next season.
We haven't been very successful so far getting Jr Clones going at NNKC, but I've been in contact with people who are expressing a lot of interest in getting it going.
As of right now the 12-15 year old Jrs are running 320lbs with the same exact engine setup as the Sr. I think it is simpler this way, especially since the Jr's are running with the Sr at the moment anyway.
As for younger than 12 years(smaller chassis), I a restrictor plate may very well be necessary. We don't have the provisions or rules in place for this age group at the moment.
Terry, if you have any plans or ideas feel free to share them. It would be great to get this going. I've put together a clone cadet unrestricted and man it was fun to drive and easy to put together.

I thought I'd read that in Clone world - Jr 1 was 8-11 years old with either a 0.5" or 0.550" restrictor.
Either way I think this is a great way to go. Not sure I totally understand the restrictor - thought that a Comer 80 was close to 9hp and not sure what a 0.5" brings a clone down to. My sons kart seems like it goes pretty fast on the straight...

mike if your son is 9 he doesn't need to move up any time soon. He will be a cadet for a while...

My son also looking for another engine to drive. My plan is he can go clone Jr when he turn 12.

Actually that was me saying my son is moving up. He was a rolling 11 this year-just turned 12 end of June. The HPV2 class around here is very large and very aggressive. He just doesn't feel up to that. He wants to do clones instead next year because he feels it would be less aggressive. I'm not sure that's neccessarily true but I think if the bumping is happening when it is a bit slower he might not be so unhappy.
That said I think he can handle an unrestricted clone engine easily. If you are running 320# and no restrictor that works for me. I want to see what Prairie City is doing too. I know they want to encourage a junior class as well.

Terry it would be great if you could bring your son over the hill to race with us. Not to mention you'll be able to jump in the pack with us and race with him. I have high hopes in larger Jr. Clone numbers for next season. We've been averaging around 17 Clones lately every club race.
Maybe you can hang onto that extra engine you had when you came up to race with us earlier this season.
